In Sarabanda, Balboa recalls precisely the female voice of that cultural and musical movement, which was generated in Cuba during the late 1960´s and early 1970´s.
In the opening of the exhibition in the gallery Excelencias gallery from Madrid, there were also present the Cuban Ambassador in Spain, Alejandro González and the cultural attaché from that delegation, Susana Sardiñas, who highlighted the work of the artist, who is also a drawer, engraver and ceramist from our country.
Diana has been working with the trova movement for many years and she was very close to Sara, with whom she shared amazing projects, which gives her a wide perspective when paying tribute to the composer, declared Sardiñas.
Her paintings and engravings recreate the history of Cuban music and the love of Cuban people for music. She turns her pieces into a concert, said the diplomat.
One of the most moving moments of the evening took place when the artist dedicated some words to her life partner and asked for the liberation of the her five compatriots, imprisoned since 1998 in the United States for preventing violent actions against their country.
Under the presence of Mirta Rodríguez, mother of Antonio Guerrero, one of those anti-terrorist fighters, Balboa talked about the unfair imprisonment he is undergoing together with Gerardo Hernández, Fernando González, Ramón Labañino and René González (who is under supervised freedom for three years since 2011).
Rodríguez took part last weekend in the 12th State Encounter of Solidarity with Cuba, which brought together around 200 Cuban friends in the city of Toledo.
As the high point of the evening, the Cuban troubadour Lázara Rivadavia performed three songs of La Gorda, a tender nickname with which she was called and with which Sara called everyone.
