Accustomed to the quality of Cuban rum, a new spirits is having a great
impact on the market. Since its appearance, it distills the best among
the best in terms of the experience of producers: the Seleccion de
Maestros Havana Club rum.
With such name, this product is characterized for being the only one
having 45 % of alcohol content, in addition to a long list of values.
The rum’s presentation in its country of origin took place during the
28th edition of Havana’s International Fair (FIHAV 2010), the most
important of its kind in Cuba.
That same year, it was presented in Cannes, France, and now it’s going
uphill among the Havana Club markets, which cover more than 125
countries, mainly in Europe among top buyers of this type of product,
especially Germany.
The Seleccion de Maestros was created by Cuba’s leading expert, Jose
Navarro, with the cooperation of Cesar Marti, Jose Luis Gonzalez,
Tranquilino Valencia, Abel Morales and Manuel Calderon.
It’s an upper class team when it comes to define aging, bouquet, and
other elements of rum as perfect as this one, considered the finish of
the well-known Cuban Barrel Proof—exquisite
per se.
Producers say that Havana Club International S.A. consolidates its
Cuban nature with the Seleccion de Maestros, aimed at boosting the
Ultra Premium Rum category, despite having a small, but elitist quota.
The previous brand, Barrel Proof, has received international awards in
several competitions: the San Francisco World Spirits Award, the
Beverage Testing Institute´s International Review of Spirits; and the
International Wine and Spirit Competition—the most important with
regards to spirits.
According to tasters, it has a beautiful amber color; a slight walnut,
caramel and spice smell; it’s nice as a starter, and has solid flavor,
in addition to having a pleasant finish—data assuring success.
A unique presentation, with reference to wood, tobacco, style and
elegance, complete the product, which somehow justify the average price
of 45 Euros a bottle, in lots of only 30,000 units a year.
However, masters of rum assert they are prepared to guarantee supply
throughout the world, as acceptance and orders increase.
Now, Havana Club, a joint venture since 1993 between Cuba Ron and the
French marketing firm Pernod Ricard, brings another exclusive product
into play to complete a range of light rums: the Havana Club 7
años, one of the most famous on the company’s catalog.
