He was born on July 27th, 1863 and died in Havana, on October 12th, 1889. He studied in the Colegio de Belén. He was disciple of Calcagno. He sudied Laws in Spain, and received the degree of Licentiate in Civil and Canonic Laws in Cuba. Because of his poor health he was forced to have a retired live. He consacrated to literary critics and research. In 1885 he joined in Ramón Meza’s library with his friends: Julián del Casal, Manuel de la Cruz and Enrique Hernández Miyares. His first, and only, book published in his life, Estudios literarios (1887), has a colection of essays awarded in several contests, thus,"Estudio sobre J. J. Milanés" and "Del teatro bufo y de la necesidad de reemplazarlo fomentando la buena comedia", were the winners in the literary conversaziones held in Dr.José MarÃa Céspedes’home. He collaborated in the newspaper La Habana Elegante.
