Actor and entertainer Germán Pinelli was born.

He was born on December 15th, 1907 in Obsipo and San Ignacio Streets, in front of the former Instituto de La Habana. His real surname was Piniella. Being a child he learned to play piano and guitar. He played with the Orquesta Palau. He studied singing and repetoire. He made theatre with his sister Sol, who was his teacher. Speaker by excellence, radio and television, entertainer, artist of the four media: movie, theatre, radio and television. Varieté singer and pianist.
Master of Masters. For many long years he inmortalized the character of Eufrates del Valle, from the San Nicolás del Peladero, a TV humoristic program. This character was taken to a film by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea in his film Los sobrevivientes (“Survivors”).
Once Germán Pinelli expressed “I have reached that, to make laugh and to make cry". Many people thinks that this is histrionism. Sometimes, when one makes laugh, one is crying inside himself. Occasionally a tear that does not run into concretion you may turn into a smile for the rest. So, sometimes pain provokes smiling and smile provokes weeping”.

Manuel Mendive, one of the Cuban plastic artists was born.

Manuel Mendive, one of the Cuban plastic artists, who is currently a prestigious artist in Cuba and abroad, was born on December 15, 1944, in Havana.
Mendive graduated in painting and sculpture at the San Alejandro Academy of Havana.
His personal exhibitions have been taken to many countries and he won several awards, such as that of Sculpture of the Circle of Fine Arts, the Adam Montparnasse, in the twentieth fourth Salón de Mayo, in Paris, as well as in several biennials of Havana.
Critics say that Mendive’s plastic actions have the whole load of sensuality and the eroticism of Caribbean people.
1986
Inaugurated the International School of Film and Television in San Antonio de los Baños.

In December 15th, 1986 the gates of a teaching center which embraces the dreams of several generations or Seven Art lovers, were opened 20 kilometers far from Havana City. The International Film and Television School (EICTV in Spanish), in San Antonio de los Baños.
The School was the result of the Cuban State generosity, particularly from Cuban President Fidel Castro Ruz emotion and long-sight vision and his esteemed friend Gabriel García Márquez. But it is also the result of Latin America filmakers who from the 1950´s created a movement, (now made true) when García Márquez, Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, Julio García Espinosa and Fernando Birri dreamt in experimental centers in Rome in 1952.
The International Film and Television School in San Antonio de los Baños is one of the most important educational projects of the world. Numerous students have graduated in its regular course and in its international workshops. All these graduated constitute and endless source of ideas for defending our people´s identitites from audiovisual media.
