The Center of Studies on Martà was created.
19 de Julio de 1977
With the objective of deepening into the analysis and popularization of the life and work of the Cuban National Hero, The Center of Studies on Martà was officially constituted July 19, 1977.
This institution has based essentially its work on the analysis of the original manuscripts, works and photographs of MartÃ, as well as on other investigations.
The original manuscripts and other documents by Martà were declared National Monument because of their significant value.
In the resolution of declaration as National Monument, it was pointed out that the manuscripts and documents by Martà are the most valuable treasure in Cuban historical- cultural richness.
One of the main tasks faced by the Center in the last years has been the critical edition of José MartÃ's Complete Works, which already includes several volumes.
The Center also organizes important meetings, conferences, events and other activities that contribute to the analysis and popularization of the life and work of José MartÃ.
