Composer and band conductor Antonio Rodriguez Ferrer died

He was born on August 23nd, 1864 and died on October 22nd, 1935. He started writing music being a teenager. When the Cuban Independece War finished he was in charge of the Cuba Libre (Free Cuba) band, which headed the mambí forces (Cuban Liberator Army) in Guanabacoa performing La Bayamesa (later the National Anthem of Cuba), to which he added its introduction. He was also professor and conducted choirs. He made music for band and two symphonic works: Preludio temático and Fantasía, and series of Danzas cubanas para piano.

Researcher and musicographer Alberto Muguercia Muguercia died

He was born in Santiago de Cuba in February 22nd, 1928 and died in October 22nd, 1987. Researcher and musicographer. He intensively laboured on retrieval numerous samples of popular sones, biographical and sociological information on outstanding Cuban composers and interpreters. He worked in the “José Martí” National Library.

The outstanding Cuban musician Emiliano Salvador passed away.

The outstanding Cuban musician Emiliano Salvador passed away on October 22, 1992.
Brought to the world of music by the hand of his father, Emiliano Salvador played the piano and the accordion since he was very young, and already when he was nine years old, he was a member Orquesta de Música Popular conducted by his father in the eastern area of Cuba.
In the 1960s, Emiliano Salvador began to study in the National School of Art, in Havana. Some time later, he was part of the Group of Sound Experimentation of the Cuban Institute of the Art and Film Industry, ICAIC (in Spanish), and other groups.
