Painter Domingo Ramos died.
22 de Febrero de 1887
He was born on November 6th, 1865 and died attacked by typhus on February 22nd, 1887. On being very young he outstood working in decorating La Merced (The Mercy) and the Cristóbal Colón Cementery Churches.
Because of his natural talent he got an scholarship in Europe. He lived in Paris.

Outstanding pianist and composer Pedro Junco was born.

Pedro Junco was born on February 22, 1920, in the city of Pinar del Río and died on April 25, 1943 in Havana. He had a relatively short life for he died at the age of 23.
Junco became a magnificent pianist and an outstanding composer. He studied in the Conservatory Orbón in Pinar del Río.
He composed more than thirty songs but he has been best known by his Nosotros (We) which was inspired by a beautiful young girl from Pinar del Río Junco was in love with.
This song has been interpreted by numerous soloists and groups and several decades after it was composed, it still holds a great charm and it is enjoyed with pleasure by those who listen to it.

Researcher and musicographer Alberto Muguercia Muguercia was born.

He was born in Santiago de Cuba in February 22nd, 1928 and died in October 22nd, 1987. Researcher and musicographer. He intensively laboured on retrieval numerous samples of popular sones, biographical and sociological information on outstanding Cuban composers and interpreters. He worked in the “José Martí” National Library.
