He was born in October 23th, 1844 and died in April 15th, 1917. He studied music with his father, and, later, with Casamitjana and with Isidro Matón. Organist of the Cathedral of Santiago de Cuba. In 1856 he was sent to study to ParÃs, where he took lessons by Le Couppey, getting trained in harmony, counterpoint, composition, piano and orchestra conduction. He returned to Cuba.
In 1865, and some years later he settled the Sociedad Musical Beethoven. He practiced musical criticism, worked as professor and created an orchestra in Santiago de Cuba. He composed religious music, piano compositions and several symphonies. His music is influenced by clasicism, by French romanticism and Rossini.
