Revista Social magazine began to circulate on January 25, 1916. It was published in two stages as an illustrated monthly magazine. The first stage contained the period between 1916 and 1933 and later since 1935 and presumably up to 1938.
During its existence, it was edited by Conrado Massaguer, who was also its main graphic illustrator and cartoonist.
Since 1918, Emilio Roig de Leuchsenring started to work as literary director of the magazine and this was very important.
It is in fact necessary to highlight that although in the first issue of the magazine it had been said that it would have as essential objectives to make reference to its readers on social events, art notes and fashion chronicles, the presence of Roig de Leuchsenring, one of the most outstanding figures in Cuban intelligentsia in that time, allowed the publication of works written by outstanding Cuban and foreign thinkers.
