She was born in Madruga, Havana, in March 26th, 1835 and died in Villa Clara, in November 1894. Since she was a girl she showed her ability for poetry. Being around fifteen years old she moved to Havana with her family; some time later his father settled in Matanzas, where an award was conferred to Catalina in the Floral Games at the city Lyceum by her ode \"Al Trabajo\" in 1865. She belonged to the Literature sections of the societies of Recreo de Pueblo Nuevo and Liceo de Matanzas, from which she was Member of Merit. She was also directoress of the fortnight newspaper El Álbum. and collaborated with Ilustración Cubana, Cuba y América and La Moda Ilustrada, from Cádiz, Spain. She wrote under the pseudonym of Cádiz.
