La Bayamesa, was premiered in Bayamo.

In March 27, 1851 at dawn, “La Bayamesa”, considered the first popular song of the Cuban Trova, was sung in Bayamo for the first time.
The inmortal work, was composed by anticolonial conspirators José Fornaris, Francisco del Castillo and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, being the later the one who started the war for the Independence of Cuba. This song was premiered by tenor Carlos Pérez, and it was dedicated to the beautiful patriot Luz Vázquez, becoming a praise to Cuban woman and land. “La Bayamesa” was widely spread, in Cuba and abroad, and many times it was sung as a redemption anthem.

Last issue of El Correo Habanero. Newspaper. Literary, scientific, mocking-criticism and fashions, directed by José Quintín Suzarte. Among its collaborators were: Alfredo Torroella, Rafael María de Mendive, José Fornaris. Its first issue dates back to November 1, 1863.

World Day of Theatre

The International Institute of Theatre (IIT), non-governmantal organization (NGO), in the performing arts domain was Created in 1948 by initiative of UNESCO. The ITT decided to officialize March 27th as World Day Theatre.
Every year a world theater personality or a well known personality by his, or her, hear and mind qualities is invited to write an international messaje translated into 20 languages. This message will be read before audiences from all over the world, during the theatre night performings. Besides it is spread by mass media from the five continents.
1962
Theater Group Rita Montaner is created

In March 27th, 1962, the comedy Propiedad particular(« Private Property »), by Manuel Reguera, directed by Cuqui Ponce de León was premiered in the Hubert de Blanck Theatre Hall. This was the first step from a long and fructiferous road which would lead the Rita Montaner Group to awards and national and international tours, as well as getting the acknowledgement from its loving-theatre audience and the Ministry of Culture. From 1962 to 1967, the group premiered about 20 plays: Las Yaguas, a musical by Maité Vera; Un gallo para Ikú, (world premiere), by José Ramón Brene, and plays from former socialist countries dramaturgy, such as :La señora. Dulska, musical comedy by the Polish Gabriela Zapolska, are among the plays staged those years.
It has to be recalled the participation of Rita Montaner Group in Casa de las Américas´ Latin American Theare Festivals, as well as in theatre activities at improvised stages in agricultural zones, factories and military units, outstanding its work Mayarí, Baracoa, Topes de Collantes and in the Sierra Maestra mountain range, from 1963 to 1973. It can not be forgotten the labour of playwright Ignacio Gutiérrez, creator of a true laboratory-theatre with so many artistic successes such as La gata sobre los rieles, by Josef Topol, from Czechoslovakia, as well as the arrival of Rolando Ferrer, one of the Cuban theatre representative authors. Also from Rita Montaner Group came María Elena Ortega, for graduating as the first Cuban woman graduated in Performing Arts Direction, in 1979. Tours along Uruguay to attend to the Muestra internacional de Teatro and presentations in the prestigious Argentine theatre El Galpón, and the Medal of the City of Cordoba for having been the first Cuban group to perform there, are unforgettable events for this prestigious ensemble.
Names of directors such as Nelson Dorr, Tony Díaz and Gerardo Fulleda León deserve to be outlined. They have been consecuent with the idea of retrieving the most important titles of the company repertoire and keeping on a tradition of the true expressions of Cuban people´spiritual life.
1977
Intellectual Juan Marinello Vidaurrueta passed away.

He was born in Las Villas province in November 2nd, 1898 and died in March 27, 1977. He got the title of Doctor in Civil Laws, and Doctor in Public Laws in the University of Havana. He participated in the Protest of the Thirteen in 1923, and founded the Institución Hispano Cubana de Cultura (Hispanic Cuban Institution of Culture) and Avance magazine. He was member of the National Commission of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba and presided the People´s Conference held in Havana. He was President of the Movement for the People´s Peace and Sovereignty; Rector of the University of Havana;. Created the Facultad Preparatoria Obrera y Campesina Julio Antonio Mella (Julio Antonio Mella Preparatory Faculty of the University of Havana. Doctor Honoris Causa in Philological Sciences by the Caroline University of Prague. He collaborated in Patria, Cuba Contemporánea, El Caimán Barbudo, Revista de la Biblioteca Nacional, among many other national and foreign publishings. His works on José Martí have been published in several book editions. He is one of the highest Latin American revolutionary intellectuals.
2007
Tres player and y composer Faustino Oramas Osorio, “El Guayabero”, died.

He was born in Holguín in June 4th, 1911 and died in March 27, 2007. He began playing in radio stations and in popular festivities at that eastern region of Cuba. Trovador or jongleur, who, with his tres under his arm toured his province and all over the island, singing to daily aspects of life. Aka “El Guayabero”. He was settled in Holguin, and performs sponsored by the Ministry of Culture. Author of the sones “Tumbaíto”, “En Guayabero”, “Como vengo este año”, “¡Ay, candela!”, “Mañana me voy”, “A mí me gusta que baile Marieta” and others.
