She was born on October 29, 1930. She studied until High School (Havana Institute). Her debut took place in the Radio Cadena Habana amateur program, from where she got the second prize. Late pianist Frank Emilio Flynn took her to his Loquibambia group, which was heard by Mil Diez radio station. Later she joined succesively, Alberto Alonso´s choreographic show, Rodney´s show (Tropicana cabaret), Orlando de Rosa quartet and the Anacaona Ladies Orchestra. In 1952 she joined the D'Aida quartet, which had, among its earliest members, Elena Burke, Moraima Secada and Hayde Portuondo, all under the guidance of Aida Diestro.
In this group she remained for fifteen years and afterwards she became a soloist for singing in radio, television, theaters and recordings. Her leading song styles are feeling and ballad.
