Antonio Arcaño, who came to be considered the King of Danzón, was born on December 29, 1911 in Havana
The formation of Arcaño as a musician was due to his cousin's patient work, the flutist Antonio Díaz. It was thanks to him that Arcaño began to play replacing him in dances.
In 1936, the singer Fernando Collazo proposed Arcaño to form a band, which they named Las Maravillas del Siglo. Some time later, it performed already with the name of Las Maravillas de Arcaño, who became its leader.
With this band, he was very successful and contributed to the development of Cuban popular music.
