He was born in Matanzas in March 3rd,1861, and died in July 5th, 1936. In 1890 he settled the newspapers La Mañana and La Juventud Liberal.
He emigrated to the United States of America, where he became Secretary of the Revolutionary Club of Tampa. He collaborated in newspapers such as: El Ateneo, Diario de Matanzas, El Fígaro and La Discusión. He wrote stories, novels and theatre plays, being among these: El anónimo (1905), Varón en puerta (1905), El legado (1908), El espíritu de Martí (1908) and others. His best known work is his patriotic poem "Mi Bandera" ("My flag").
