She was born in Ciudad de La Habana, in January 6th, 1888 and died in April 4th, 1951. Founder of the Cuban School of Guitar. Daughter of Manuel Romero and Amalia Romero, born in Andalucía, Spain. She began studying guitar when she was seven years old. She married with Justo Nicola and settled a family of seven children. From 1916 she worked as general teaching professor in a nun´s school. In 1931 the Municipal Conservatory created the Professorship of Guitar and appointed her professor of that instrument, keeping her just before she passed away. Among her pupils were María Teresa Freyre de Andrade, the illustrious librarian, Humberto Bonet, and his son Isaac Nicola, who carried on her labour and maker of reputed guitarists such as Leo Brower and Jesús Ortega. She taught in the Liceo de La Habana, in the Beneficencia and in the Sociedad Pro Arte Musical. A result of her work is the Cuban School of Guitar.
