It was officially settled in March 6th, 1834 by Royal Order, directed by Nicolás de Cárdenas, Blas Osés (Vice President) and Domingo del Monte (Secretary). Among its 26 numerary academics were: José de la Luz y Caballero, José Antonio Saco and Felipe Poey among others. Academics were also appointed in Matanzas, Puerto PrÃncipe, Puerto Rico and Madrid. The Cuban Academy of Literature, truly cubanship banner, enjoyed an ephimerous existence, because when the application was sent to the Governess Queen, she committed it within its rules, and so, it vanished.
