The construction of the Parochial Church of Sancti SpÃritus was completed.

On October 7, 1680 The construction of the Parochial Church of Sancti SpÃritus, a religious construction of outstanding architectural values which has been closely connected to the development of this city located in the central part of Cuba, was completed.
Initially, the inhabitants of the town witnessed the beginning of a construction made up of straw and adobe. This building would be the first cathedral of the village of Sancti SpÃritus.
Nevertheless, years later and thanks to the flimsiness of the construction, the church had to be rebuilt.

First issue of the weekly magazine on sciences, literature and arts El Brujo. Its director was Francisco Rosales and it has the following sections: Doctrinal, Scientific, Artistic, Literary, Poetic and Witchcraft. But according to Carlos M. Trelles: it was directed by Francisco Rosales, Federico RodrÃguez and Lucas Castañeda and it only dealt with literary subjects. Among its collaborators are: Belisario Casanovas, Antonio Hurtado, Ignacio Delmonte and other city writers. Its last issue reviewed dates back to March 30, 1884.

Pianist Teresita Junco was born.

She was born on October 7, 1946. After having studied in the Havana City conservatory she kept on her training in the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Moscow. In Cuba she has performed recitals and has played with symphonic orchestras. She has performed in Hungary, Venezuela. Professor of the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory and of the Higher Studies Art Institute.

Composer, singer and guitarist Noel Nicola was born.

He was born in a family of outstanding musicians: Eva Reyes (violinist), Issac Nicola, Cuqui Nicola y Clara Romero(guitarists). His debut took place in protest-song programs, in Casa de las Américas, en 1967. Before this, he has had other activities in diverse musical groups. He has also composed for theatre and documentaries. He studied with Federico Smith and with Leo Brower. He has created music for poems by José Marti and César Vallejo. He has made arrangements too. He joined the Grupo de Experimentación Sonora del ICAIC (Sound Experimenting Group of the Cuban Film Institute) and coordinator of the Movimiento Nacional de la Nueva Trova. Author of: \"Por la vida juntos\", \"Diciembre Tres y cuatro\", \"Para una imaginaria Maria del Carmen\", \"Comienzo el dia\" and others.

Composer Graciella Párraga died

She was born within a weallthy family in Havana, on March 10, 1905 and died on October 7, 1971. She played her songs accompanied by her guitar. She also played the piano. Authoress of: Como mi vida gris, Te besaron mis ojos, among other songs. Her music was played in U.S.A. films and recorded in several discographic editions. She peformed in theatre, radio and TV.
