He was born in Guanajay in February 9th, 1813 and died in March 16th, 1875. Satirical and folkloric poet. He settled La Siempreviva (“The Evergreen”) magazine together with Antonio Bachiller y Morales, Manuel Costales and José Quintín Suzarte. Member of the Economic Society of Friends of the Country, usual visitor of Domingo del Monte literary gathering. He published the anthology Aguinaldo Matancero together with Miguel Teurbe Tolón and arrange converzacione at home, where Manuel Mendive, Andrés Díaz, Juan Clemente Zenea, and many others, participated. He wrote under the pseudonym of Escolástico Gallardo. Among his works are : Las apariencias engañan (1847), Artículos de costumbres (1941) and Descripción de la maravillosa cueva de Bellamar (1863).
